A man was reportedly killed by his wife, son and daughter in Fatullah of Narayanganj Sadar upazila for an extramarital affair on his part.
The deceased was identified as Md Jamal Hossain, 54, a resident of Idrakpur in Narayanganj's Fatullah. Locals said Jamal was a Bangladeshi who had been living in Saudi Arabia for 27 years before returning to the country one and a half years ago.
On Wednesday, police arrested Jamal Hossain's wife Sharmin Begum Doly, her daughter Samiya Akhter, and son Tanvir Hasan, who all gave their confessional statements under section 164 in court on Thursday.
On Wednesday morning, police recovered Jamal's body from his house, confirmed Fatullah Model police station Officer-in-Charge Aslam Hossain to the Dhaka Tribune.
On the evening of the same day, Abdul Mannan, the older brother of the deceased filed a case with Fatullah Model police station for the murder.
Quoting the confessions of the accused persons, OC Aslam said Jamal had an affair with another woman, whom he went to meet on Tuesday morning.
Jamal assaulted his daughter Samiya on several occasions, and his family members suspected him of being in relationships with multiple women. Enraged, the three planned to kill him, OC Aslam continued.
On Tuesday night, the accused individuals fed Jamal sleeping pills with dinner. With Jamal asleep, they took him to the bathroom where Samiya and Tanvir held him and Sharmin hit him with a hammer on the head, Aslam added.
When the accused called the neighbours to bury Jamal, the neighbours informed police about the matter that day.
