Chittagong double murder: Case lodged, police yet to arrest anyone

Police are yet to make an arrest over the gruesome killing of a woman and her young son at Chandgaon in Chittagong city Monday night.

The woman's elder daughter filed a case with Chandgaon police station on Tuesday accusing a man named Faruk who used to live with the family as a paying guest.

Chandgaon police station Officer-in-Charge Ataur Rahman Khandaker confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.

Bijoy Basak, Deputy Commissioner (North) of Chittagong Metropolitan Police, said: “We are investigating the gruesome killing with all seriousness. We are now cross-checking some pieces of information. Hopefully, we will be able to arrest the key accused within a short period of time.”

Informed, police recovered the bodies from a tin-sheded house at Ramjan Serestadar area at around 9pm Monday.

The deceased were identified as Gulnahar Begum, 33 and his son Md Rifat, 9.

The woman had injury marks of sharp weapons in different parts of her body while the son was found with his throat slit.

According to the police, the woman worked as a household help to provide for her son and daughter living with her. 

Her elder daughter was at her work when the murders took place.
