At least 20 people including 10 journalists and members of Chittagong Zila Muktijoddha Sangsad Santan Command, were injured in an attack by miscreants in front of the press club on Monday.

The attack was launched on a human chain program arranged jointly by Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad and Muktijoddha Santan Command protesting the burial of freedom fighter Ali Ashraf without state honours.

They also protested against the false case filed against journalist Faruk Abdullah, a family member of guerilla commander Moulvi Syed Ahmed, under the Digital Security Act, said Zahir Uddin, organizing secretary of South unit of Krishak League.

A probe committee was formed to investigate why the freedom fighter was laid to eternal rest without state honours in Chittagong’s Banshkhali upazila.

Freedom fighter Dr Ali Ashraf was the commander of Shekherkhil union unit Muktijoddha Sangsad.

Ashraf was also the labour affairs secretary of Banshkhali upazila Awami League and elder brother of Moulavi Syed, one of the few who protested the killing of Bangabandhu in 1975.
