Feni municipality mayor Haji Alauddin, also owner of Star Line Group, was admitted to a hospital in the capital on Saturday after contracting coronavirus (Covid-19).
The mayor is currently undergoing treatment at the AMZ Hospital, confirmed his younger brother Main Uddin.
Mayor Alauddin had been feeling ill for the past few days and was hospitalized for treatment after testing positive, Main continued.
Previously, several members of the mayor’s family received treatment at the same hospital and made recoveries, Main added.
Until Saturday, 292,625 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the country and among them 3,907 died and 175,567 made recoveries.
