A suspected drug dealer has been killed in a reported gunfight with two rival drug syndicates in Badshah’s Koyarbill of Sadar upazila, Satkhira.
The incident took place in the early hours of Thursday.
The deceased, Liakat Ali, a top drug dealer of the area, was accused in 10 drug-related cases.
Liakat was killed after a gunfight broke out between the followers of two drug syndicates regarding shares in drug money, the police said.
Mirza Salauddin, additional superintendent of police of Satkhira Sadar zone, said: “Being informed of the gunfight, police conducted a drive to the area. Upon arrival, police found the bullet ridden body of the deceased.”
“We sent his body for autopsy and filing of a case is underway,” said Sadar police station OC Asaduzzaman,
A revolver, two rounds of bullets, 50 bottles of phencidyl, and 200 yaba pills were recovered from the spot, added the officer.
