Md Israfil Alam, an Awami League lawmaker from Naogaon-6 constituency, has been put on life support at Square Hospital in Dhaka after his condition deteriorated.
Confirming the matter, his wife Sultana Parvin on Saturday said: "Israfil was put on life support on Friday. He was admitted to Square Hospital on July 6 as he was feeling unwell, but was released after his health condition improved on July 12."
Later on July 17, he started coughing up blood and was admitted to the hospital again, she said.
On Friday, the lawmaker was put on a ventilator as breathing complexities worsened, she said.
