The newly built building of a school-cum-cyclone shelter for Omor Ali School in Chandpur Sadar's erosion prone Rajrajeshwar union has finally slided into the Padma River completely on Thursday.
Safiullah Sarkar, headmaster of the school has urged the authorities to build a floating arrangement in Padma as the schools' previous infrastructures had gone into the mighty river for around 10 times since the school was founded in 2000. The school has around 500 pupils.

"The construction of the school building for Omor Ali School, was finished only a month before, spending Tk2 crore and 29 lakh. The site was selected last year's January when the school was 3 kilometres away from the river bank," said the UP chairman.
Chandpur Water Development Board (WDB) Md Babul Akhter said: "The area (Rajrajeshwar union) is surrounded by Padma and the Meghna. I don't know if the WDB has been consulted before building the school. It was not a good decision to construct the building there."
