Bangladesh has recorded another 41 deaths and 3,057 new Covid-19 cases across the country in the last 24 hours.
With the new deaths, the total death toll from the pandemic in the country stands at 2,709.
The total number of confirmed cases in the country now stands at 210,510.

DGHS Additional Director General (Administration) Prof Nasima Sultana revealed the latest figures at a daily online bulletin on the Covid-19 pandemic on Tuesday.
She said that in the last 24 hours, a total of 12,898 samples were tested across the country, of which 23.7% were found positive.
Meanwhile, 1,841 patients successfully recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered patients in the country to 115,397.

The recovery rate is 54.82% in Bangladesh now, which is gradually increasing.
The fatality rate is 1.29%
Prof Nasima said of the 41 deceased, 34 were men and seven victims were women. Of the deceased, 15 were from Dhaka and Chittagong division, five from Khulna and Rajshahi, and one from Rangpur division.
“Of the victims, 31 died in different hospitals and 10 at home,” she added.

She said, 2,148 men (78.92%) and 571 women (21.08%) have died so far from the deadly virus across the country since March 18.
She added that the mortality rate was 1.29% against the total cases so far detected.

23.70% test positive in 24hrs
The DGHS official said as many as 12,898 samples were collected from suspected Covid-19 patients in the last 24 hours.
As many as 12,898 samples were tested in 80 authorized labs including government and private – across the country.
With 3,057 of the tests coming back positive, which is 23.70% in the last 24 hours, the test positivity percentage stood at 19.96%.

Until Tuesday, 1,054,559 tests have been conducted in the country.
Around 1/4 beds empty
The government has prepared 15,468 general beds and 519 ICU at different hospitals in the country. Of those, 4,261 patients are admitted in general beds and 114 in ICU.
The number of vacant beds and ICU across the country is 11,207 and 405 at dedicated covid hospitals.
Looking back
On March 8, health authorities in Bangladesh reported the first three cases of Covid-19, a severe acute respiratory illness caused by a new coronavirus strain which was later named Sars-CoV-2.
The country recorded its first fatality on March 18

On June 10, Covid-19 deaths in Bangladesh crossed the 1,000 mark, and on June 18, the number of total cases crossed the 100,000 mark.
On June 30, the country recorded 64 deaths, which is the highest in a 24-hour span till now.
On July 2, a total of 4,019 positive cases were recorded, which was the highest in a single day till now.
The novel coronavirus had broken out in China's Wuhan city in late December last year and quickly spread throughout the world, becoming a pandemic in less than three months.
