Combing operation on to catch Shahed in Satkhira

Members of all law enforcement agencies in Satkhira have launched a combing operation following intelligence that Regent Group owner Md Shahed may leave the country by crossing the border.

All vehicles plying the roads to the border areas are being checked thoroughly since Tuesday evening in the district, said Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Bazlur Rahman, Commander of RAB-6.

Bazlur said: "We are conducting raids so that Shahed cannot cross over to India in any way."

Meanwhile, police  are also searching vehicles while members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) are keeping an eye on the border areas in the district.

Satkhira Superintendent of Police (SP) Mostafizur Rahman said:"Police raided a flat at Kamalnagar in the town last night in search of Shahed. Shahed would stay in that flat when he visited Satkhira."

On July 7, RAB filed a case against Shahed and 16 other staff of Regent Group and Regent Hospital after a mobile court found proof that the hospital authorities had issued fake Covid-19 certificates and charged patients for tests and treatment, violating an agreement with the government.

Shahed has been on the run since the law enforcement agencies started raiding his organizations.
