Police recovered a handcuffed body with injury marks from the embankment area of Sangu River under Anwara upazila in Chittagong on Monday night.
The identity of the victim could not be confirmed immediately as the body has already begun to decompose.
Anwara police station officer-in-charge (OC) Dulal Mahmud said the handcuffed body of a man, aged about 28, was recovered at 11:30 pm.
Replying to a query, the OC said the body had a small hole in the back while his throat was slit.
“The victim was wearing a full shirt and shorts while his right hand was handcuffed. Presumably, the victim died three to four days ago,” the OC said, adding the body was sent to Chittagong Medical College for autopsy.
A case was filed in this connection.
