Two patients have died from coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours in Chittagong.
The death toll now stands at 214 with the death rate at 1.87%.
On July 8, the death toll from Covid-19 crossed 200 in Chittagong. The body count from Covid-19 crossed 100 hardly a month ago on June 9.
192 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours taking the total number of infections in Chittagong to 11,385.
On April 3, Chittagong recorded the first case of Covid-19 and it took almost two months to report 3,000 novel coronavirus cases on June 2.
On June 19, Chittagong had a little over 6000 Covid-19 cases and in just ten days it exceeded 8000 on June 29.
On July 6, the number of coronavirus cases in Chittagong crossed the grim 10,000 mark.
So far, 1,318 patients have returned home from hospital after recovering from the virus, while 5,211 patients have made recovery in home isolation.
The current recovery rate in Chittagong is 57%.
As of Saturday, 289 people are undergoing treatment in isolation units of various hospitals and 797 people are in home quarantine.
On a note of caution, the Civil Surgeon said: “Chittagong is now seeing community transmission of the novel coronavirus. We should be careful as the number of people getting infected with the deadly viral disease is increasing each passing day. We should follow all the health regulations and social distancing to contain the spread of Covid-19.”
