The Local Government Ministry has suspended two union parishad chairmen and a member for irregularities in cash disbursement and relief distribution among the destitute people amid the coronavirus outbreak.
The LGRD Ministry issued separate notifications in this regard on Tuesday, reports UNB.
Since the beginning of the coronavirus outbreak, 107 public representatives have been suspended on irregularities charges.
Among them, there are 35 UP chairmen, 66 UP members, one zila parishad member, four municipal councillors, and an upazila vice-chairman.
The suspended UP chairmen are SM Rupom, chairman of Moydanhatta union in Shibganj upazila of Bogra and Imdadur Rahman Mukul, chairman of Gaznain union in Habiganj district.
Besides, Uttam Biswas, a member of No 5 ward of Nabagram union in Kalkini upazila of Madaripur was also suspended for his alleged involvement in irregularities in rice distribution under a food-friendly programme.
