Alokito Simanta (enlightened border) project
A project named Alokito Simanta was taken up by the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) to prevent border intrusion by Bangladeshi men into Indian territories.
The project aims to make people living in the border areas in the district self-reliant so that they may not intrude into Indian territories.
Regarding the matter, Ahmed Yusuf Jamil, said many lower-income people of Gowainghat, Companiganj, and Jaintapur upazilas are intruding into Indian territories for various kinds of illegal activities as they have been jobless due to Covid-19 crisis.
If we make them self-reliant economically, they will not intrude into Indian territories, he added, "Apart from the project, BGB along with local administration including police are working to stop border killings."
