At least 14 cattle worth Tk20 lakh have been looted from a local dairy farm by an armed robbery gang in Sreepur upazila of Gazipur.
The incident took place at the Moyna Dairy Farm situated in Gararan village of the upazila in the early hours of Thursday.
According to the farm authority, an armed gang consisting of 15 robbers sneaked into the farm, overpowered the guards and confined them in a room.
“Afterwards, the robbers cut down the gate and stole 14 cattle from the dairy farm,” said Jubayer Ahmed, an official of the farm.
The owner of the farm, Abdul Kaiyum said the cattle are worth Tk20 lakh and he will soon lodge a case regarding the loot.
“Along with Assitant Superintendent of Gazipur Police AKM Jahirul Islam, we inspected the spot and we are investigating the incident,” said Inspector Moniruzzaman of Sreepur police station.
