Rapid Action Battalion detained a man with snake venom worth Tk 16 crore from Feni Sadar upazila on Tuesday.
The detained Md Ikbal Hossain hails from Pashchim Ruiya area of Noakhali's Sudharampur upazila.
RAB caught him at Kashimpur area on the Noakhali-Feni Highway while he was transporting two pounds of snake venom on a motorbike, confirmed Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Md Nuruzzaman, acting camp commander of RAB 7.
Acting on a tip-off, RAB conducted a check-post on the highway and detained Ikbal. Another person with him managed to flee the scene.
RAB suspects Ikbal is a member of an international smuggling gang, that is involved with collecting venom from various parts of the country.
