Police on Tuesday arrested two journalists in a case filed against them under the Digital Security Act in Chunarughat upazila of Habiganj.
The arrestees identified as Abdur Razzak Raju, president of upazila reporters’ forum and one Abdul Jahir, were sent to jail following a court order.
Pranay Pal, leader of the local Hindu community, filed the case against these two journalists for posts on social media that were allegedly offensive to religious harmony, confirmed Chunarughat police station OC Sheikh Nazmul Hoque.
Meanwhile, members and leaders of the district and upazila reporters’ forums protested the arrests.
