A suspected robber has been killed in a reported gunfight with police in Porsha upazila, Naogaon.
The deceased, Delowar Hossain, was accused in six cases under robbery and illegal possession of arms cases.
Delowar was arrested a few days back and he revealed some important details about storage full of illegal drugs and ammunition while in custody, police say.
“We conducted a drive to Fakirer Mour area of the upazila with Delowar to recover his illegal possessions early morning Tuesday,” said Porsha police station OC Sahinur Rahman.
“Sensing our presence, his associates opened fire at us and when we retaliated, they fled the spot. We found the bullet shot Delowar after the gunfight,” added the OC.
Police took the critically injured man to the Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead, police said.
“We recovered a pistol and a local sharp weapon from the spot, and filing of a case is underway,” further said the OC.
