A physician of Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) died of the new coronavirus (Covid-19) infection on Thursday morning, while undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital.
The deceased identified as Dr Mohidul Hasan, 42, was an emergency medical officer of the hospital.
“The doctor, undergoing treatment at the hospital cabin, was shifted to the ICU of the hospital on Wednesday night as his condition deteriorated. He breathed his last at 11:15am on Thursday,” CMCH Deputy Director Dr Aftabul Islam said.
Mohidul is the second doctor who has died of Covid-19 in Chittagong. On Wednesday, Ehsanul Karim, a doctor of Marine City Medical College and Hospital also died of the same virus.
As of Wednesday, Chittagong has recorded a total of 3,537 confirmed cases of Covid-19 and of the total cases, more than 75 are doctors who tested positive for the virus in the district.
