Five get death, 17 life imprisonment for Gopalganj murder

A Gopalganj court on Thursday sentenced five people to death and ordered life imprisonment for 17 others for the killing of a man in 1999. Additional District and Sessions Judge Mohammad Nazir Hossain also acquitted 15 other accused in the case on the day. The death row convicts are – Zakaria Sapu, Khokon Master, Shahadat, Hemayet Molla and Shahjahan, reports UNB. Those sentenced to life in prison are – Kaikobad, Muzaffar, Fayek, Pervez Shahnur, Mosharraf, Lutu Shikdar, Imarat, Hasan, Shaha Azam, Layek, Selim, Faju, Faruk, Rahman, Farman, Bayezid and Faruk. The convicts hacked to death one Shiru Mollah, 55, from Kashiani's Aurakandi village, over previous animosity on October 15, 1999. A murder case was filed with Kashiani police. The law enforcers arrested the accused at various different times and submitted a charge sheet that included 37 people.
