Ashoke Chowdhury, head of News for Boishakhi Television, has been severely injured in a road accident in Comilla.
The incident took place on Dhaka-Chittagong Highway in Suaganj’s Lalbagh area under Chauddagram upapzila on Monday afternoon, confirmed the private TV channel’s local correspondent and police.
According to a Facebook post made by Independent TV Chief News Editor Ashish Saikat, Ashoke suffered critical injuries when he swerved his car and fell into a roadside ditch to avoid a collision with a motorcycle, with three passengers, coming from the opposite direction.
Boishakhi TV’s Comilla correspondent Anwar Hossain also told Dhaka Tribune that Ashoke was going to Chittagong from Dhaka.
Aside from Ashoke sustaining critical injuries, his car was also badly damaged as it rolled over after he lost control.
Later, highway police from Miabazar outpost along with locals rescued Ashoke and sent him to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
Chauddagram police station OC Abdullah Al Mahfuz said his damaged car was also recovered and kept at the Miabazar outpost.
