Five nurses and one patient of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital have tested positive for the new coronavirus (Covid-19).
With the five, a total of 13 people were diagnosed with Covid-19 in Sylhet district on Friday, said Dr Anisur Rahman, assistant director (disease control) of Sylhet divisional health office.
Previously, 16 intern doctors of the same hospital had tested positive for Covid-19, all of whom are doing well now, he added.
Dr Anisur also said the total number of cases may rise as some samples were sent to Dhaka for testing and the results were yet to arrive.
Sylhet division has recorded a total of 358 confirmed cases of the new coronavirus as of Friday.
Meanwhile, 16 more people died from coronavirus in Bangladesh in the last 24 hours until Saturday, taking the death toll to 314.
Besides, 930 new patients tested positive during the same period, raising the number of such cases to 20,995.
