Forest Department officials of Bagerhat have detained three poachers with venison on Monday afternoon in Tiarchar area in Sharankhola upazila.
The arrested are—Abul Kha, 42, and Sanjoy Mistri, 32, of Patharghata upazila in Bagruna, and Asadul Sheikh, 25, of Dacope upazila, reports UNB.
Mohammad Belayet Hossain, divisional forest officer of Sundarban East Zone, said they detained the three poachers in a drive when a group of seven poachers put a deer hunting trap in the forest and slaughtered two deer.
Some of the poachers managed to escape while 30kg venison, 700 feet net trap, three trawlers, and a boat were seized, he added.
Meanwhile, 22 deer were rescued and released in their natural habitation later.
