Teenager hacked to death for protesting sister's harassment

A teenager was brutally hacked to death by assailants after the boy protested the harassment of his sister in the village of Bhopla in Thakurgaon.

Police arrested six people in connection with the murder of the15 year old teenager, said Thakurgaon Superintendent of Police (SP) Md Moniruzzaman Monir, at a press briefing on Sunday.

The arrested were Naim Islam Nasir, 19, Sohel Islam, 22, Helal Islam, 22, Al Amin Islam Shahin, and two teenage minors.

"The accused harassed a schoolgirl of Bhopla village. When the girl's younger brother protested her harassment, the suspects threatened the boy," said SP Moniruzzaman.

"On April 24, the accused called the boy from his home and hacked him to death in a field near his home. They left his body in a paddy field," added the SP.

On April 25, police recovered the body and sent it to Thakurgaon Adhunik Sadar Hospital for autopsy. The victim's elder brother filed a case in connection with the murder on the same day.
