Coronavirus: First death recorded in Cox’s Bazar

A 65-year-old woman died of Covid-19 in Cox's Bazar, the first death reported from the deadly virus in the district.

The woman, a resident of Ramu upazila in the district, died at Cox's Bazar District Sadar Hospital around 8pm on Thursday, said Dr Shaheen Abdur Rahman, resident medical officer of the hospital.

She was admitted to the hospital with coronavirus-like symptoms. Her samples were collected and sent for Covid-19 test at Cox's Bazar Govt Medical College Hospital lab. The test report came positive earlier today, the RMO said.

Islamic Foundation's Cox's Bazar team has been informed for the burial of the deceased, said Pronoy Chakma, Ramu upazila nirbahi officer.
