A total of five members of a family have tested positive for the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) in Shakhipur upazila of Tangail.
Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Abdus Sobhan confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune on Friday morning.
Dr Sobhan said: "A man who would deal in vegetables in Dhaka tested positive for Covid-19 on April 21 after he had returned from the capital to the upazila with mild fever."
"As the man came in contact with the family members, we collected samples from his wife, two sons and a daughter to test for coronavirus on Thursday. Next day, their reports came back positive for Covid-19." said Dr Sobhan.
The newly infected patients, however, did not show any symptoms of coronavirus yet and they were home quarantined for now, the RMO added.
Until Friday, the district has recorded 18 Covid-19 cases . Among them, one died and two have recovered so far, according Tangail Civil Surgeon Dr Md Wahiduzzaman.
