3 girls of a family drown in Chittagong

Three minor girls, including a pair of twins, drowned in a pond in Boalkhali upazila in Chittagong on Wednesday afternoon. The deceased were identified as two-and-half year old twins Israt Jahan and Nusrat Jahan, daughters of expatriate Md Harun and his brother Md Faruk's two-year-old daughter Wahida Hasan Farjana, said police sources. Boalkhali police station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Salauddin Chowdhury told the Dhaka Tribune: “The incident took place at Ward No: 6 under Sreepur-Kharandwip union of the Boalkhali area.” “The girls went missing from their home around 2:00pm. Family members spotted them in the pond after two hours and sent the girls to the Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctor declared them dead,” added the OC.
