The local administration apprehended a man, who was absconding after being tested positive for the novel coronavirus, from Ghonardewli village in Ghatail upazila of Tangail.
The 24-year-old man from the village was soon sent to hospital after being detained on Friday night.
The authorities locked down 120 families as the patient came into contact with locals.
Ghatail upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Anjan Kumar Sarkar said: "The man with kidney problems was under treatment at National Institute of Kidney Diseases and Urology (NIKDU) in Dhaka's Sher-e-Bangla nagar area from April 4 to April 7.
"During the treatment, the man displayed symptoms of Covid-19, prompting doctors to collect his samples to test for coronavirus and refer the patient to Kurmitola General Hospital."
However, instead of going to the hospital, the patient fled to his village in Ghatail upazila. He was even roaming around after switching his phone off, despite the fact that IEDCR confirmed him that he was coronavirus positive, the UNO said.
"Later, we tracked the man's mobile phone and detained him from his village around 10 pm on Friday. He was sent to Dhaka for Covid-19 treatment." said Anjan Kumar Sarkar.
