A schoolgirl has been stabbed to death in Raipur upazila of Narsingdi district.
The incident happened in Kalikapor area of the upazila around 10am on Saturday.
The deceased is Sonia Akter, 15, daughter of Jalal Mia from the same area.
Sonia’s maternal uncle Kamal Hossain said local goon Babul Mia along with three to four associates attacked her father and her paternal uncle Helal Mia. She came forward to stop the goons and got stabbed.
Sonia was rushed to the local hospital and later transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). As she was undergoing treatment there, doctors declared her dead in the evening.
DMCH police outpost In-Charge Inspector Bachchu Mia confirmed the matter and said the body has been kept in the hospital’s morgue for autopsy.
