The autopsies of five militants killed after they detonated suicide vests during “Operation Sun Devil” in Rajshahi’s Godagari have been completed at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
“The militants died in bomb explosions. We have found bomb and splinter injuries on their bodies,” RMCH forensic department’s Assistant Professor Enamul Haq said after performing the autopsies Friday night.
“The abdominal areas of two of the militants were crushed due to blasts. They might have been carrying bombs. The other three bodies had splinter injuries.”
The doctors found no bullet injuries on the bodies. The bodies have been kept at the RMCH morgue.
“An application will be sent to Quantum Foundation on Saturday to carry out the burial,” Godagari police OC Hifzul Alam Munshi said.
A case will be filed over the incident.
The operation officially ended Friday, a day after five of a militant family hacked a firefighter to death and died detonating their suicide vests. A female militant surrendered with her two children.
Fake police uniforms, gunpowder, explosives and a pistol were recovered from the hideout.
