The hanging body of a 16-year-old schoolgirl was recovered from her family home in Barisal on Thursday.
The deceased is Sanghamitra Biswas Promi, a tenth grader at Barisal Model School and College and the daughter of Himangshu Biswas.
Police suspect that it is a case of suicide.
Kotwali police station's Officer-in-Charge Md Awlad Hossain said that they, on receiving the information, recovered the body that was hanging from a ceiling fan in her living room on Thursday morning.
“She hung herself using a scarf sometime after late Wednesday night,” the police officer said, quoting the deceased's family members.
As of 6pm on Thursday, nobody had been detained, nor was a case filed regarding the incident.
