A lawyer has been detained in Manikganj, allegedly in possession of a firearm, ammunition and yaba tablets.
The Detective Branch (DB) of Manikganj police took Towhidur Rahman Babu, 42, a pro-Awami League lawyer, into custody from his home in Manikganj late Tuesday night.
DB Sub-Inspector Victor Banarjee said: “Acting on a tip-off, we detained Babu and seized a pistol, a bullet, two magazines and 50 yaba pills from his home.”
According to the police officer, Babu, also a member of the Manikganj District Bar Association, is a regular drug user.
