Jatiya Sangsad Whip Abu Sayeed Al Mahmud Swapon has been injured in a road accident in Manda upazila of Naogaon.
The accident took place on Thursday morning.
His bodyguard Kamal, an assistant sub-inspector (ASI), was also injured in the accident.
Mozaffor Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of Manda police station, said the accident occurred in Ferryghat area where a truck collided with his car, leaving them injured.
The truck hit the car when the whip was on his way to Joypurhat from Rajshahi via Naogaon to attend the namaz-e-janaza of Kalai municipality mayor Halimul Alam around 11 am.
They were taken to Manda Upazila Health Complex, where they were given primary treatment.
Police seized the truck but the driver and his assistant managed to flee.
