Coronavirus: Five Chinese nationals under observation in Dinajpur

Five Chinese citizens who work at the Barapukuria Coal Mining Company Ltd (BCMCL) have been kept under observation in Dinajpur.

The Chinese nationals who came back to Bangladesh after their Chinese New Year vacation in China on January 20, are in an isolated ward set up at the specialized hospital of the coal mine since then, said Dinajpur Civil Surgeon Abdul Kuddus.

"As they show no possible symptoms of the deadly Coronavirus and the 14 day observation period ends on February 4, they will be released soon," he added.

The civil surgeon assured that they are prepared to handle any case of confirmed or detected Coronavirus (2019-nCoV).

Quoting the civil surgeon, General Manager of BCMCL, GM Kamruzzaman Khan, confirmed that a specialized committee has been designated to oversee the wellbeing of the people working at the faculty.

The official said the disease became an epidemic infecting more than 14,000 people around the world.

More than five hundred Chinese nationals work at the coal mine for the CMC-XMC Consortium, the Chinese contractor to BCMCL.
