'Number of extrajudicial killings in Bangladesh fewer than USA'

Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen has said the number of extrajudicial killings taken place in the country is much less than those in the developed country like USA.

He said this while addressing a workshop on notifying the Right to Information Act 2009 and Online Tracking System in Sylhet on Saturday.

The workshop was organized jointly by Sylhet district administration and Information Commission at the district council auditorium in the morning.

During his speech, the minister claimed only a few extrajudicial killings took place in the country though the government does not want a single extrajudicial killing here. 

Momen alleged that many newspapers are publishing untrue and exaggerated information on the issue extremely, but the government has ensured accurate information through the right to information law.

He observed that the proper execution of the law is imperative to build a Digital Bangladesh.

Chief Information Commissioner Martuza Ahmed, Sylhet divisional Commissioner Md Mashiur Rahman, and Deputy Commissioner M Kazi Emdadul Islam, among others, spoke at the workshop.
