Martin Luther King Jr remembered in Manikganj

Monno International School and College (MISC) observed "Martin Luther King Jr Day" on Wednesday, commemorating the 91st birth anniversary of America’s legendary Civil Rights leader in Manikganj.

MISC observed the day with the aim of disseminating Martin Luther King Jr’s message of ethics, equality, and equity among its students..

In her speech on the occasion, the principal of the institution, Ms Syeda Nasrin Akhter, said: “Today we remember Martin Luther King, and appreciate his sacrifice for a dream that he believed in. 

"But,of course, a man like him never dies."

She also advised the students to keep Martin Luther King Jr’s vision alive by standing up to injustice, by showing kindness to others, and by being steadfast in their beliefs.

The engaging part of the event was a short biographical performance on Martin Luther King Jr’s life, performed by the students of Class VII, VIII, IX, and X. 

They focused on King’s life, his achievements, his remarkable speech,“I Have a Dream,” and his assassination in April 1968. In presenting various visions of Martin Luther King Jr, the students performed the key anthem of the Civil Rights Movement- “We Shall Overcome.”

The event was organised under the direction of Md Mahady Hasan, with Assistant Professor Md Golam Noor being the facilitator.

Vice Principal Mohammad Aminur Rahman and all the faculty members of MISC were present to observe the day.
