BSMRSTU employees continuing sit-in protest demanding due payment

Around 176 staff members of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science & Technology University (BSMRSTU) held a demonstration in front of the university administrative building yesterday, seeking fulfillment of their three point demand.

The three demands include the payment of their three months’ due salary, making their jobs permanent, and creation of a permanent guideline for employees to be paid on a daily basis.

BSMRSTU staff members Ibrahim Sheikh, Sheikh Naimur Rahman, Kazi Ruma and Salim Ahmed remarked about their demands at the sit-in protest that started at 9am yesterday.

The demonstrating staff members said they are protesting for a month but as the authority has not taken any visible steps to end their miseries, they will continue their protest until their demands are met.

Vice Chancellor of BSMRSTU, Prof Md Shahjahan, said the University Grants Commission (UGC) has been notified of the matter and future steps will be taken according to their instructions.
