The movement of vehicles on roads and highways has become quite dangerous throughout the country ever since the arrival of winter, and with it dense fog reducing visibility while travelling.

Within the span of six hours yesterday morning, at least two people were killed and several others injured in three separate road accidents in Kishoreganj.

All three incidents took place on the 52km Kishoreganj-Bhairab regional Highway in Kamaliarchar of Sadar upazila from 4am to 10am.

A Mymensingh-bound bus from Sunamganj plunged into a roadside ditch when its driver lost control of the steering, leaving two people dead on the spot and several others injured at 4am.

The deceased were identified as Faizul Islam Chowdhury, 60, from Kanaighat upazila in Sylhet and Zinat Khan, 50, a nurse of Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.

During the rescue operation, another truck plunged into the same ditch when its driver lost control of the vehicle.

Later, another bus bound for Dhaka, collided head-on with an oil tanker from Bhairab and plunged into a roadside ditch, injuring several people at the same spot around 10:15am.
