The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) on Thursday arrested two health officers of Nawabganj Upazila Health Complex for embezzling over Tk5 lakh of the government allocated funds in Dinajpur.
The arrested were identified as Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Khairul Islam and Office Secretary Somor Kumar.
Deputy Director Abu Hena Ashikur Rahman of the district’s combined ACC office confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.
The anti-graft watchdog has launched an investigation into the allegation of embezzlement of government allocated funds to the Nawabganj Upazila Health Complex.
The inquiry found the duo involved in embezzling Tk5,14,000 from various project funds during 2018-19 fiscal year."
The case which was filed with ACC accused four officials of the hospital and the arrest of the other two officials is underway, the ACC official said.
