Man held with 22 gold bars at Sylhet airport

Customs officials have arrested a man along with 22 gold bars, at Osmani International Airport in Sylhet.

The arrestee is Momin Uddin Mamun of Goainghat upazila in the district, reports UNB.

Joint Commissioner of Customs Minhaz Uddin said: "A Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight from Dubai landed at the airport around 8:45 am on Tuesday.

“Acting on a tip off, a team of Customs Intelligence officials searched Momin and recovered the gold bars weighing 2.5kg from inside his shoe.”

The market value of the recovered gold bars is around Tk1.5 crore.
