The bodies of 10 fishermen, who went missing in the Meghna River during cyclone Bulbul, were handed over to their families in Mehendiganj upazila of Barisal on tuesday.
Each family of the deceased was also given Tk25,000 from the district administration.
Officer-in-charge (OC) Abidur Rahman of Mehendiganj police station confirmed the matter.
Earlier on Monday and Sunday, the bodies of 10 fishermen were recovered from the Meghna-Elisha estuary in Mehendiganj upazila of Barisal.
The victims were identified as Khorshed Maji, Kamal Dalal, Abbash Munshi, Hasan Molla, Rafiq Biswas, Nurunnabi Bepari, Mafij Mtabbar,Najrul Islam, Kabir Hossain, and Md. Billal. All hailed from Charfashion upazila in Bhola
Bhola SP Sarkar Mohammad Kaisar said a fishing trawler, owned by Tofayel Majhi, capsized in the Meghna River due to the inclement weather after the cyclonic storm Bulbul on Sunday afternoon. The trawler was carrying 24 fishermen at the time.
