Young boys save train from derailment in Naogaon

Local boys saved thousands of lives from a potentially horrific train accident in Raninagar upazila of Naogaon.

According to locals, around 6pm on Friday, a group of young boys noticed that a portion of the railway track near Borboria-Gona area was damaged.

When the Dinajpur bound Ekota Express train was entering Raninagar, the boys waved their red shirts and scarves to signal the train driver. Fortunately, the driver noticed their signal in time and was able to stop the train in time to prevent a disaster.

Raninagar Railway Station Master Md Manik said: "A group of brave and quick thinking boys managed to stop the Ekota Express train by waving red scarves and shirts and thus saving the onboard passengers from any harm. A team from the Santahar Railway Junction repaired the damaged rail line soon after receiving the news."

The authorities repaired the tracks by replacing the damaged clamp at 7:30pm that day and after one and a half hours railway communications resumed.
