The bodies of a couple have been found hanging from a tree in Manda upazila, Naogaon on Wednesday.
The deceased were identified as Golam Rabbani, 22, and Taslima Akhter, 18, both from Chakrajapur village in the upazila.
Manda police station OC Anisur Rahman said the villagers noticed the dead bodies hanging from the tree in the morning and informed police.
“We went to the spot and recovered the bodies as soon as the locals informed us,” he added.
Villagers said Taslima and Rabbani had been in a relationship for a long time. Both their families knew about it, but they did not support their relationship.
The couple might have been frustrated about it and committed suicide, they said.
OC Anisur said they had sent the bodies to Naogaon Government Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
“We have also filed a case of unnatural death,” he added.
