A student of Rajdhani Ideal School and College from Dhaka has drowned while bathing under a waterfall in Reisa area of Bandarban Sadar upazila.
Md Tahsan Ahmed, 19, died on Tuesday morning, Bandarban Sadar police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shahidul Islam said.
According to the police and local sources, a group of 132 students and teachers from Ideal School and College in the capital’s Rampura area came to visit Bandarban on a study tour on Tuesday morning.
Tahsan drowned when he, along with a few others from the group, went to take a dip under the Rupali waterfall at Reisa.
Local people later rescued him and took him to Bandarban Sadar Hospital, where the duty doctors declared him dead.
