Four killed in road accidents

Four people were killed and three others injured in road accidents in Tangail, Natore, and Gazipur on Friday.

In Tangail, two people were killed and three others injured in the road accident on the Dhaka-Tangail Highway in the Mohera area in Tangail's Mirzapur upazila on Friday morning.

The victims were identified as Abdur Razzak and Abdul Kader, both hailing from Atgharia upazila of Pabna, were relatives.

Confirming the matter to Dhaka Tribune, Gorai highway police Sub-Inspector (SI) Matiar Rahman said: "The three injured are undergoing treatment at Tangail General Hospital, while the victims' bodies have been kept at the hospital morgue."

According to police sources, a Dhaka-bound microbus coming from Pabna and carrying five members of a family, crashed into a truck in the Mohera area. 

The passengers, and the truck driver, all sustained critical injuries, and after they were admitted to Tangail General Hospital, two of them were pronounced dead by the duty doctors. 

The microbus driver, however, sustained minor injuries and left the hospital secretly after receiving primary treatment. 

In Natore, a man died in a head-on collision between two trucks hauling stones on the Bonpara-Natore Highway on Friday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Joy Chandra Das, 32, one of the truck driver’s assistants.

Jhalmalia police outpost OC Mozammel Haque said even though both the trucks were seized, the drivers had already fled the scene.

The body of the deceased was recovered and kept at the station, added the OC.

In Gazipur, a man was run over and killed on the spot by a vehicle on the Dhaka-Tangail Highway on Friday afternoon.

Neither the victim nor the vehicle could be identified. They body of the deceased was sent to the Shahid Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital for autopsy, said Bason police station SI Utpal.
