Police on Thursday arrested the prime suspect in a case filed for raping and murdering a madrasa girl, who was found dead on Monday in an abandoned train compartment at the Kamalapur Railway Station in Dhaka.
The arrested Maruf Hasan Badhon, 20, reportedly had a love affair with the deceased Asma Akhter, 17. They both went missing on Sunday from their residences in the Panchagarh Sadar upazila, said family members.
Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) forensics doctors primarily suspect that Asma was raped before murder. They say they will be certain once the final report is submitted.

Maruf's mother Bilkis Begum said her son was falsely accused. “Badhon surrendered himself over to the police at 10pm on Thursday.”
As this was an ongoing investigation, police declined to disclose much information regarding the case.
Asma's father, Abdur Razzaque, a van driver, said: "I hope no child will ever have to suffer like my daughter and I want exemplary punishment for rape and her murder.
