The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has predicted light to moderate rain or thunder showers at most places in Bangladesh in the next 24 hours.
This period of light rain and showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is supposed to end at 9am on Thursday.
“Light to moderate rain or thunder showers is likely to occur at many places over Dhaka, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions and a few places over Khulna, Barisal, and Chittagong divisions," a Met office release said on Wednesday.
Mild heat wave is also sweeping over Rangpur and Sylhet divisions, and the regions of Tangail and Kishoreganj. The heat wave might abate, said the press release.
The monsoon depression over northwest bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh and West Bengal moved northwestwards, and intensified into a monsoon deep depression over the same area.
Day and night temperature might fall by 1 to 3°C across Bangladesh, the release added.
The sun will set in Dhaka at 6:38pm on Wednesday and will rise at 5:31am on Thursday.
