A 10-year-old boy was killed as the wall of a mosque collapsed on him at Kalia in Narail on Tuesday.
The deceased, Akash Molla, was son of Hossain Molla of the Barakalia area of the municipality.
A wall of the Kalia Central Mosque fell on Akash in the morning, leaving him critically injured.
Locals rescued the boy and took him to the Upazila Health Complex where the duty doctor declared him dead, said Upazila Nirbahi Officer Nazmul Huda, while visiting the spot.
The mosque was being demolished for renovation, said Rafiqul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Kalia police station.
The contractor assigned to re-construct the mosque agreed to pay Tk1,00,000 to the victim's family, he added.
