Bus service on the Sirajganj-Dhaka route finally resumed on Friday morning, after two weeks of strike which was called by the Sirajganj District Bus Owners Association on July 13.
The strike was called after Sirajganj District Bus Owners Association opposed the plying of Sheba Line’s bus on the Dhaka-Sirajganj route.
Mohakhali Bus Terminal Road Transportation Owners Association had introduced 20 Sheba Line buses as none from their organization were in operation on the route.
The conflict was finally resolved and three of bus counters of Dhaka-Sirajganj at Mohakhali Bus Terminal were reopened.
Sirajganj District Bus Owners Association President Jinnah Almaji said: “The dispute is settled and ticket sales began after Thursday evening. A Sirajganj-bound bus left Dhaka on Friday morning.”
On July 13, bus services on the Dhaka-Sirajganj route were suspended and an indefinite strike was called by Sirajganj District Bus Owners Association since July 18.
On July 21, bus owners and workers in Sirajganj had abated the strike by resuming bus service along the internal routes of Sirajganj and towards Kushtia, Khulna and Jessore, along with northern region districts.
