Three students at a girls' school in Habiganj town were injured when chunks of ceiling plaster broke off and fell on them on Sunday afternoon.
The injured fifth grade students, Samiya Akhter Jemi, Purnima Pal, and Samiya Jahan, were in their class when the incident took place on the third floor of Town Model Girls Govt. Primary School, confirmed principal of the school, Shulka Rani Das.
She said: "No students were seriously injured. None of them were sitting directly below the plaster that fell. The building was made only a year ago, and the use of poor building materials might be responsible for the incident."
Habiganj district Education Officer Abdur Rezzak said he visited the spot and swiftly notified the authorities responsible for the maintenance of the building. He added that necessary steps will be taken following further investigation.
All of the injured received first aid following the incident, but they told this correspondent they were still traumatized, fearing such incidents in the future.
