A drug trader has been killed in a “gunfight” with police in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar.
The deceased is identified as Md Hossain, 39.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday.
Teknaf police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Prodip Kumar Das said they haf raided a secret area upon receiving information of drug trading from Hossain. When police reached the scene, a “gunfight” broke out between Hossain’s comrades and police.
Around three police officers were injured.
Bullet-ridden Hossain was taken to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
The body has been sent to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Around two LG guns, nine rounds of cartridges, 12 rounds of bullet shells and 2,000 yaba pills were recovered from the scene.
